Springfield Could Add More Flights
Updated: August 2, 2007
SPRINGFIELD - Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport is trying to add more flights out of Springfield and they're giving you the chance to tell them what other destinations you would like to see. This month Allegiant Air will start direct flights to Las Vegas, but more flights could be taking off. Allegiant says it wants to add direct flights to Fort Lauderdale and Phoenix from airports it already serves. Now Springfield is getting on board trying to bring them here.
Right now the airport flies to Washington, D.C. and Chicago. Airport Executive Director Mark Hanna says before they add new flights they want to know where there's a growing demand, so the airports starting a campaign to get feedback about the possible new stops.
Allegiant also offers flights to Orlando and Tampa, so those are two other cities Springfield could connect to. Hanna says the campaign to add for flights isn't costing them much only what's needed to create a website.
