CHAMPAIGN- Without a budget state workers headed to work today unsure of when they'll be getting paid. There's mixed feelings among state workers.
The president of u of i sent his employees an email supporting what the governor says. It's business as usual with or without a paycheck. You wouldn't notice any changes at the U of I campus today. Administrators and students are all hard at work.
Employees say they were surprised by the email they received from the president but are trying not to panic just yet. "Honestly kinda a surprise to us nothing really phased us to much we all expected to come back into work and we're here again today and the university is a large place so it's not going to go away too quickly."
For workers are hoping for a budget before they have to worry about when the money is coming. A representative from the U of I says that payroll is set through the month of August after that well they are hoping for the best to get the school year off to a good start. The University has made a web page to keep faculty and staff updated on the budget plans click here for more .
