Murder Possibly Connected to Stand Off

Updated: June 22, 2007
(CBS 2 Chicago) Chicago police are investigating a bizarre stabbing murder that may be linked to a bank hostage-taking incident in Arcola Thursday.

CBS reports, police say 40-year-old Bernie Graves was found stabbed to death Thursday night in his apartment on 41st Street and Michigan Avenue.

Illinois State Police Sgt. Bill Emery says investigators are trying to determine whether a car registered to Graves was the same stolen car pulled over by state police Thursday before the shooting of a sheriff’s deputy, a high-speed chase and a bank hostage drama in Arcola.

Sgt. Emery says the car pulled over on I-57 was an Infinity that appeared registered to the murder victim. He hopes to have more solid information later Friday.
