crime sceneTwo people from Georgetown are dead.. after an apparent murder-suicide. It happened at 1102 Newlin Street.. Neighbors in this quiet neighborhood.. woke up this morning.. to a sound.. they've never thought they'd hear.. "I didn't know what was going on.. at first i didn't know if it was a power line that had popped," said Neighbor Nathan Kleiner. It wasn't until Nathan Kleiner stepped outside.. that he knew the sound.. was something serious. "We heard probably abut 6 or 7 gunshots.. woke us up out of bed and had to make sure the kids were ok.. and about 5 minutes later.. we heard the last gunshot," said Kleiner Gunshots.. coming from this house.. just across the street.. When police received word about the shooting.. they arrived to find what appeared to be.. a murder-suicide.. "They located two victims.. laying outside on the porch.. both deceased from gun shot wounds," said Captain Rod Kaag of the Vermilion Co. Sheriff's Dept. The victims were boyfriend and girlfriend.. 18-year-old Jessica Stanton and 24-year-old Darren Hammer. Police say Hammer shot Stanton multiple times.. and then turned the gun on himself.. "It looks like it's possibly domestic.. incident that obviously went tragic." A tragic incident.. that no one saw coming.. "At this point, we don't show any contacts or any history of domestics withese parties involved," said Captian Kaag. .. Neighbors.. too.. say.. no sign.. no warning.. Just a day that should have been like any other.. and one they hope to never see again..
