plane There will soon be two weekly flights from Springfield's airport to the Sin City. Officials say it's a flight that's been in demand for years. The flights will depart on Mondays and Fridays. And if it's successful, the airport director says there could soon be more destination options. "It's an excellent start with the relationship between Allegiant and the Springfield and surrounding community. And we certainly hope and welcome additional service opportunities," says airport director Mark Hanna. Allegiant Air is also offering Vegas flights from Champaign and Peoria. But Allegiant's CEO says he's not worried about over saturating the market. "What we've been getting in Peoria is full airplanes. And at that point we feel we're turning customers away. And our success has been so good and Central Illinois has been so supportive, that we know this market can work very well," says John Fenyes of Allegiant Air. And Mayor Tim Davlin says he hopes there's a good turnout on these flights, hinting that Vegas is a fun place. "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas," says Davlin. You can book flights from Springfield to Vegas now at a special introductory price of $79 each way.
