cell phone(URBANA)---The message was simple Saturday in Urbana and that was "Hang up and drive". 25-year old Matt Wilhelm was killed last September after he was struck by a woman who was using her cell phone while driving. After losing their son last fall, Chuck and Gloria Wilhelm set out to correct what they think is the wrong that killed him. Now the couple is determined to get Champaign County to pass a law that would make it illegal to use your cell phone while behind the wheel. "What we're trying to do is change people's attitudes about cell phones and driving and change the behavior in a willing way." Says Matt’s mom Gloria. Her husband, Chuck agrees. "Almost everybody you talk to has experienced being around another driver that's been inappropriate an that's driven recklessly. There's really no need for it...we should be the masters of the cell phone, not the other way around." After adding their names to the petition, folks could get a special bumper sticker, which read, "Hang Up And Drive...Keep Matt Wilhelm's Memory Alive." The Wilhelm’s say their petition has been relatively successful so far having around 400 signatures, and if the success continues they say they wouldn't mind seeing go farther to a state level. To sign the petition or to get more information on it you can log onto it's official web site at (www.mattslaw.org)
