Lincoln Police Office Killed in Accident

LINCOLN - A Lincoln police officer is dead after a one car accident in Sangamon County Saturday night. It happened just after ten on Business 55 north of Sherman.

Illinois State Police say 29-year-old Todd Blaum's truck went off the roadway crashing into the creek bed. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say he wasn't wearing his seat belt. Blaum had been a member of the Lincoln Police Department since 2004. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
