Champaign Teen Has Wish Come True

Updated: May 11, 2007
CHAMPAIGN---17-year-old Amber Frazier passed her driving test Friday, which is a big deal for any High School Junior. But for Amber, it's extra special. Frazier was diagnosed with a rare blood disease called Lupus last October. Since then, it's been an up hill battle, acquiring kidney disease along the way. But on Friday it was all about Amber, as a stretch Limousine was waiting to pick her up after school. The fun didn't stop there as just 15 minutes later she arrived at a local dealership where thanks to members of the "Make-A-Wish Foundation" waited her new car. "I just had surgery on Monday, and I was kind of like upset." Said Frazier "I was looking at my scars and stuff but to come in today and to get the car. It was really, really special." "I think that not only has her dream came true but...this car will truly be a blessing." Says Amber's mom, Renee Frazier who says she's had to take a lot of time off from work during the past few months to drive her daughter back and forth to various doctor's appointments. "I could have never made this come true, but Make-A-Wish did." Ms. Frazier says her daughter still has another 6-8 months of treatment left, but now with a car of her own...she's literally on the road to recovery.
