Car Striped of Engine

U of I - Someone stole a car from a parking lot on the University of Illinois campus.  But they were more interested in its engine.  In Crime Watch, police need your help to find whoever took a white 1997 Saturn LS2 and then striped it of its engine and windshield wipers.   Tony Ortiz from University of Illinois Police says, "Normally they just break into a vehicle and steal any valuables in the passenger, driver area."  But that's not what happened this time.  Ortiz says the car was reported stolen around 7pm on April 11th.  It was taken from the parking lot at the Law Building on Pennsylvania Avenue and was found a few hours later in the 800-block of Dennison Drive in Champaign.  According to Ortiz, "They were looking for that particular vehicle engine and that's what drew this attention and that's very rare when something like that happens."  When police found the car, there was damage done to its steering and front right tire.  Investigators are looking over the car for clues that could lead them to a suspect.  If you have any information, call Champaign County Crimestoppers at 373-TIPS.  You don't have to give your name or testify in court and a reward is offered.
