Campus Security Plan

Updated: April 29, 2007
sealCHICAGO - Governor Rod Blagojevich has a new plan to keep Illinois college campuses safe in the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy. The governor announced a plan today to create a statewide college task force.

He also wants to hand out $300,000 in grants to improve communication on Illinois campuses and add college officials to the state's terrorism task force.

Locally the U of I says it does prepare for events like Virginia Tech. Officials at Eastern Illinois University say the recent shootings have them taking another look at their security plan.
