Danvilles first prostitution crackdown of the year put several people in jail. Monday and Tuesday officers worked the citys west side near Robinson. In two days 9 people were arrested. Four women accused of prostitution and five men whom police say picked up undercover female officers. All face fines from 200 to 1-thousand dollars. Police spokesman Larry Thomason says neighbors owe themselves a pat on the pack. People in that neighborhood called and complained to police. Thomason say stings like this cause the prostitutes to drift, but he says they’re easy to spot because of the problems they bring with them. Thomason says, “[Neighbors] are concerned about several things; the type of traffic it may generate into the area which theyre not used to, possible crime elements that may come along with something like that, they’re concerned about drug activities and weather or not that is associated with prostitution and solicitation for prostitution” Thomason says this is one of many stings this spring and summer.
