U-S Troops Homecoming on Oprah
Updated: April 5, 2007
Shelbyville's Evan Garlick met his parents and sister after serving months in Iraq. His homecoming was the talk of the town.
Everyone in town said they are so excited to have Evan home and then Oprah on top of that!
The Garlick family has been praying for this day for a long time. In fact his Evan's mom has been fund-raising since the day he left to send troops care packages. Her mission, to give heroes like her son a sense of home.
The whole town was sure to tune into Oprah today. Evan graduated from Shelbyville high school 3 years ago. One of his former teachers says the school is beaming with pride.
"I know everybody at the school and community are pleased Evan is coming home and is coming home safely we're awful proud about what he's done over there and the sacrifices he's made," said his former teacher Kevin Ross.
Evan will come home to his parent's house decorated in red, white and blue, all in support of their son.
