11/24-Bears sign Jason Davis

Updated: November 24, 2008
LAKE FOREST, IL — The Chicago Bears activated G Terrence Metcalf to the 53-man roster, placed LB Darrell McClover on Injured Reserve, signed FB Jason Davis to the practice squad and terminated the practice squad contract of FB Jed Collins today. Metcalf was given a roster exemption last week and did not count toward the 53-man roster after returning from a four-game suspension. McClover appeared in 10 games for the Bears this season and ranks tied for second on the team with 14 special teams stops. Davis entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2006 with the Philadelphia Eagles. The University of Illinois product missed the 2006 NFL season when he was placed on Injured Reserve on August 29. He spent the 2007 season on the Eagles practice squad. After being cut by Philadelphia at the end of the 2008 preseason, Davis signed with the Bears practice squad on September 1. He was signed to Oakland’s active-roster on October 28 before being waived by the Raiders last week. Collins was signed to the Bears practice squad on October 28. He entered the NFL this season with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Washington State. The 6-1, 255 pound fullback spent the entire preseason with Philadelphia and was on the Eagles practice squad for the first seven weeks of the regular season before being released on October 21st. A spot is still available on the Bears practice squad.
