Bricks Bash Buses
Updated: August 24, 2010
CHAMPAIGN - Several people were hurt when kids threw paving bricks at buses. It was hardly an average trip through town.John Lieb with the Champaign Police Department says, "It could've been very bad." In Crime Watch tonight, police need your help to find the teens who terrorized these passengers. It happened at the corner of Market Street and Bradley Avenue around one o'clock in the morning on Saturday, November 8th. Several teenagers were standing on the southwest corner of the intersection and when three LEX buses got close, they threw at least two bricks. One shattered the windshield of one bus and the other shattered the side windows of another. The flying glass cut several people and one brick hit a passenger in the face. Lieb says, "Right now the juveniles seem to be an issue when we have more than three or four juveniles we seem to be getting a trend where they do more mischievous things and clearly this went far past that." Investigators say, all those hurt will be okay. If caught, the teens could face numerous charges including mob action.
