Keon Clark Is Suing Vermilion County Sheriff's Office.

Updated: March 21, 2007

Arian "Keon" Clark will be in court in Danville tomorrow, defending himself on charges of resisting officers.  A lawyer for the sheriff's office says when Clark was arrested for driving on a suspended license a year ago, he didn't cooperate during booking and refused to be searched.  Clark will be in court tomorrow on those criminal charges, but his lawyer says there's more to it than that.

That's why Clark is suing the county.  The lawsuit says, without cause, a deputy sheriff and two correctional officers used excessive force against Clark.  It says they "tripped Clark, slammed Clark's head on the counter, moved Clark's arms, while still in handcuffs, behind his back, up over his head, took his clothes off to search him and intentionally stepped on Clark's shin over a large bandaged are".

Clark is suing the Deputy Sheriff Hartshorn and the two correctional officers for emotional and physical damage. The sheriff's office denies any wrongdoing, and its lawyer says there's no merit to the case.  A jury trial is set for the beginning of next year for Clark's lawsuit against the county.

He's been in trouble with the law several other times.  The latest being just this past weekend, again for driving on a suspended license.  He's also facing other drug and gun related charges.
