DECATUR- New development in Decatur has people buzzing. The new Olive Garden opened up today at Mound Round and U.S. 51. I
It's more than just a restaurant for Italian food lovers. The mayor says it's a sign that the city of Decatur is moving up and not stopping here. The Olive Garden sits at the corner of the newly developed mound center. It includes a target and Starbucks, all top community picks for the area.
Mayor Paul Osborne says he hopes bringing these new businesses to town will bring more people and keep people in Decatur because everything they need is right here. "The satisfying part for me is this something people in Decatur wanted, same with Starbucks and Target so that area is designed for what people want for the city."
One more lot is available in the center, city leaders have not said which stores are looking into the area but the mayor says he thinks a major bookstore would fit in. The city council is looking at several businesses to fill that space. The mayor says he hopes with the new Olive Garden opening that site will look that much better.
