CHAMPAIGN -- Part of an intersection is closed as crews try to determine what caused the road to cave in. The sinkhole is at the corner of Church and State streets.

It's hard to miss. There are signs and barriers around the gaping hole found yesterday. A woman driving on State Street bottomed out her car and called police.

Public works was called and crews blocked off the road. No one was hurt. A contractor was called in, but public works officials think a leaky storm drain may be to blame.

Reopening the road could take a few days. Crews have to make sure the weather is warm enough for the concrete to set. Meanwhile, one lane is still open.
