Unclaimed property to be auctioned-off

SPRINGFIELD -- Thousands of pieces of unclaimed property will be auctioned off today.

The Illinois State Treasurer's office will open up bidding on more than 12,000 pieces of unclaimed property. Treasurer Dan Rutherford is calling it a "St. Patrick's Day" theme, citing some of the gold, emeralds and coins people can bid on starting Monday morning at 10 a.m. The auction runs through March 22nd. All the items have been appraised by an outside vendor.
