MACON COUNTY -- Investigators say an Illiopolis woman lied about being pulled over by a police impersonator. Paula Embrey was arrested Thursday.

The 20-year old faces felony charges for filing a false police report. The sheriff says the incident happened Tuesday on Route 36 in Harristown.

He says Embrey claims a man in a white car with flashing lights pulled her over. Once the man got out of his car, she told police she sped off thinking he might be the impersonator wanted throughout Sangamon County.

Investigators say they took her story seriously. However, after reviewing all the information, Embrey admitted making up the story in a follow-up interview.
