Students raise money to preserve landmark

MOUNT PULASKI -- Third grade students at Mt. Pulaski Elementary School are raising money to help preserve the town's courthouse. President Abraham Lincoln practiced law at the Mt. Pulaski courthouse years ago.
It's an historic landmark which usually receives grant money for upkeep. Since the budget cuts, the city needs money to maintain the building and the town's kids are pitching in to save a piece of history.
"In a small community, I think it's important for the kids to know that they need to get involved and this is just one way they can help," said Megan Jones.
The students have already raised more than half their goal of $130.
