PEORIA -- Some Caterpillar workers could soon be out of work. Rolling layoffs have started at an East Peoria plant. More workers are expected to be laid off next month.

Those layoffs can last anywhere from a week to a month. No word on how many workers will be affected at this time.

In a statement from Caterpillar, the company said it is taking action to bring production in line with the demand. It said it's taking steps to position the company for long-term success.
