CHAMPAIGN -- A unique program looks to shoot a little higher. Jefferson Middle School has an archery program.

Since last year, the team has expanded from 19 to 55 kids and won multiple trophies. Now the coach is pushing to expand the program to other schools. She spoke to the school board Monday night to explain why.

"I have probably two of the best female shooters in the state. They're 8th graders. They're worried about what's going to happen next year. We'd like to see teams started at Centennial and Central." Coach Lynne Srull said.

The Jefferson Middle School team heads to state March 23, in Springfield.
