Cab robbery arrests

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Two young men were in court Monday, accused of beating and robbing a cab driver. Investigators say 17-year old Raymond Haugabrok and a 15-year old boy were arrested on Saturday in Rantoul.

Haugabrok is being charged as an adult because he faces felony charges for armed robbery and aggravated battery. Police say one of the boys put an air-soft gun to the back of the driver's head and punched him. The 15-year old faces charges in juvenile court.

RANTOUL -- A cab driver's passenger turned into a robber mid-trip. It happened Saturday night. Police say the driver picked up the suspect near the 400-block of Marco Drive.

Shortly into the trip, police say the suspect put a gun to the back of the driver's head after covering his face. Police say the driver grabbed the gun but got punched. The suspect then ran off.

Officers later arrested two boys, a 17-year-old and 15-year-old. Both face armed robbery charges. Police say the weapon was actually an air-soft gun.
