SPRINGFIELD - Gov. Pat Quinn issued an executive order Friday, eliminating or consolidating 75 boards and commissions. It comes less than a month after WCIA-3 News partnered with the Better Government Association to investigate.

The investigation found several boards and commissions were redundant or dormant for years. But after the order was issued, WCIA-3 News noticed the number of boards on the state's website had actually increased since the original investigation aired in February.

A spokesperson for Quinn said the increase came during a review of boards and commissions. The governor's staff discovered other boards had finished their business or had been dormant for a long time and were never properly eliminated.
