DANVILLE -- Students hope to make their dreams come true. They want to be national champions. They're getting their shot after getting second place at regionals this past weekend. The Danville High School students want to take the top spot in Chicago next month. WCIA-3's Anna Carrera takes us to one of their rehearsals.

The choir sings and dances for nearly an hour. Some days, they do it all over again after school. It's all to get ready for the national stage.

"I don't really know why I love it that much," said Cheyanne Cota, who is a senior. "I just do."

The students don't shy away from competition and they're getting ready for the biggest one of the year.

"Oh my gosh," said Cota. "You just have so much anxiety built up inside you and when the curtain opens, it's just amazing. It's the best feeling in the whole entire world."

Cota is one of  115 students rehearsing for their fifteen minutes of fame. They're counting on each other to stay in step and in tune.

"We work together so well," said Cota. "We're just a big family and that's really important for a show choir group to have."

This year's show is all about dreams, like winning another medal.

"Going to this place where you can perform and be anybody you want to be in the dream and just give everything your all and make it happen," said junior Christian Cunningham.

"They're ready to work," said Kassy Krause, who is the director for choral activities. "They are really talented. They want it just as much as the person next to them. They have been focused and ready."

With just weeks left until the big day, they know they still have a long way to go. But they're ready to leave it all on the stage.

"All of us will get out there, we'll give 100%," said Cunningham. "We'll do our best and that's all we can do."

Cota and Cunningham won individual awards this past weekend. They each got a $10,000 college scholarship for having the best stage presence.
