Firefighter killed in crash

HUDSON -- A firefighter was killed in the line of duty. It happened while he was responding to an accident on I-39 Tuesday night.

Chris Brown and five others from the Bloomington Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. While there, a semi-tractor trailer lost control and hit the department's emergency vehicles.

Every firefighter on the scene was hurt. All were taken to a hospital in Normal.

Brown died a short time later. Tuesday was his 12th anniversary with the department.

Brown leaves behind a wife and two young children. The other injured firefighters have all been released from the hospital.

HUDSON -- A firefighter was killed following a crash in McLean County. The Hudson Fire Department responded to a multiple-vehicle accident on I-39 Tuesday night.

That's when a semi carrying a load of cars lost control and hit three first responder vehicles. Six firefighters were taken to the hospital.

The coroner says a short time later, one was pronounced dead. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

HUDSON -- A Hudson firefighter was killed Tuesday night in a multiple vehicle accident. Authorities say around 9:45 pm an accident involving several cars prompted first responders to be dispatched to southbound I-39 near mile marker 6 in Hudson.

Around 10:45 pm, a semi carrying a load of cars lost control and struck three first responder vehicles, injuring six members of the Hudson County Fire Department. They were transported to Advocate Bromenn Medical Center in Normal.

The McLean County Coroner says a short time later, one of the firemen was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
