11/9-Illini men defeat Lewis, 62-56

Champaign, Ill. - Illinois wrapped up its exhibition schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 62-56 victory over Lewis at the Assembly Hall. Leading by three late, Illinois sealed the win on a 3-pointer by sophomore Demetri McCamey with 26 seconds left. Sophomore Mike Davis led all scorers with a game-high 18 points on 5-9 shooting from the field followed closely by McCamey, who tallied 16 points. Sophomore Mike Tisdale added seven points, and nine Illini entered the scoring column in all. Senior Chester Frazier brought down a game-high 10 rebounds and senior Calvin Brock added seven boards, helping Illinois garner a 46-34 rebounding advantage. Davis also notched seven boards and five blocks to lead the defensive attack. The Illini took a four-point advantage, 30-26, into halftime and extended their lead to as many as 14 points in the second half thanks to a 13-4 run. Illinois opens the regular season at the Assembly Hall on Friday, Nov. 14, hosting Eastern Washington at 8:30 p.m. That game will be streamed live on bigtennetwork.com.
