Marathon contract approved

CHAMPAIGN -- The city is gearing up for the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon. Tuesday night, city council members will look at a $21,000 contract with the clinic.
The money would help pay for city staff working on race day. The contract also outlines each group's responsibilities. This way, fire, police and public works each know exactly what they need to do.
Usually the marathon pays the city after the event. But, organizers say the event is getting bigger and they wanted to have a plan in place before race day.
