CHARLESTON -- Students starting at EIU in the fall, will pay a higher tuition. The board approved a nearly one-and-a-half percent increase Friday. It's the lowest tuition rate increase in the past 20 years.

Students can expect to pay $400 more per semester hour. That means those taking 15 credit hours will pay about $4,200 a semester.
