Delayed decision quite costly

SPRINGFIELD -- Every day lawmakers don't reach a deal, it costs taxpayers millions of dollars. The latest plan would save the state about $160 billion in the long-term.
Next year, it would free up an extra $2 billion. That could go to pay down the more than $9 billion in unpaid bills. Otherwise, next year, more than a quarter of the state's income will go to pension payments.
