UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- Unofficial St. Patrick's day is Friday. All this week, police have been making sure students and businesses know the rules. Now, they're turning to drivers.

It's a message you just can't miss. It's all about safety.  If you're headed to campus, there are several signs making sure that message comes across loud and clear.

Signs went up Thursday afternoon reminding driers to slow down and watch for people walking. Students say it's a problem on campus, even when it's not "Unofficial."

The signs will be up through the weekend. Also expect to see lots of police officers enforcing the message. More than 100 patrols will be out on foot and in cars this weekend.
