GIBSON CITY -- A positive attitude from this Kid to Know inspired an entire school. You won't hear Emily Young complain even though you wouldn't blame her if she did.

The GCMS junior was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia when she was in middle school. It's a disease which attacks the muscles and can be fatal.

She's had a rod inserted into her spine to slow the curvature. Monday night, like most other days, Emily was all smiles. It was Charity Night at D.G. Sullivan's.

A packed house came out to raise money for the group researching her disease. Emily says she couldn't battle the disease without her friends and family. Gibson City raised $5,000 Monday night, and they're still counting.
