URBANA -- The idea of raising reimbursements for families dealing with sewer repairs has been set aside. Homeowners in the Ellis subdivision had to dig across city streets to fix their lines.

The city currently reimburses families half of the cost, or up to $3,000 for repairs under city property. City leaders talked about increasing that to 75% and $4,500 Monday night, but now it's starting from scratch.

The public works department will explore whether the city can cover all the costs. That process will take up to six weeks.

URBANA -- City council members will get their first look at a proposal to fix a neighborhood sewer problem. Homeowners in the Ellis subdivision had to dig across city streets to fix their lines.

The city is currently paying back half that cost. Monday, council members will discuss upping that amount. Owners would only be responsible for a quarter of the expense under the new proposal.
