SPRINGFIELD -- A man is in jail after a seven hour standoff with police. The Sangamon County Sheriff's Office arrested 37-year-old John Hatcher. He faces charges for aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Investigators say it started around 5:30 Saturday morning. Police were called to Hatcher's home in the 3000-block of South Park Street.

Neighbors told police Hatcher fired several shots into the air before locking himself inside. SWAT and  negotiators were called in as well.

Police say they broke down the front door and Hatcher surrendered. Investigators found several guns in his home including an AR-15. Hatcher was taken to a hospital for an evaluation then taken to jail.
