Mt. Pulaski reaches first ever title game

NORMAL - Mt. Pulaski used a strong second half to power past Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 49-41 in Friday's state semifinals.  The wins sends the Lady Toppers to their first ever state championship game.

CHBC used a strong first half to build a 9-point halftime lead, but Mt. Pulaski outscored the Hornets 34-17 over the final stretch to win the game.  Jessica Awe led the way for Mt. Pulaski with 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Andrea Dickerson scored a team-high 18 points for the Toppers.  All-stater Micah Jones led the way for CHBC with a game-high 26 points and Class 1A state record 21 rebounds.

Mt. Pulaski will face No. 1 Freeport Aquin Saturday afternoon in the state championship game.  CHBC will face Annawan for third place.
