MELVIN -- One firefighter was hurt when he fell through flooring to the basement while battling an overnight fire. It happened about 3:15 am, at Bubba's Bar, in the 100-block of West Main.

Chief Larry Boundy, who also serves as township road commissioner, discovered the fire while he was actually plowing snowy roadways. When he found where it was, he called it in.

About 30-crew from departments in Sibley, Gibson City and Roberts responded to help Melvin douse the flames. The fireman who fell through the floor was treated and released from the hospital and is expected to be okay.

Crews were on scene 2 - 3 hours. A damage estimate is not available. The cause is believed to be electrical.
