SPRINGFIELD -- It looks like a state lawmaker is changing his mind about wanting to ban anonymous posts online. Reports now show Senator Ira Silverstein  (D) pulled the bill.

It was getting a lot of criticism. He wanted people who post online to reveal their names, and if they didn't their comments would be deleted.

SPRINGFIELD -- A lot of websites have a section dedicated to viewer comments, but now, one lawmaker wants to make some changes to those features. Senator Ira Silverstein (D) of Chicago wants to create the "Internet Posting Removal Act."

It would require web administrators to delete any anonymous posts by request. If someone didn't want their post removed, they'd have to give their real name, and then provide a way verify it.

Critics say the proposal is too invasive and strips them of their internet privacy. Senator Silverstein could not be reached for comment.
