SPRINGFIELD -- Governor Quinn may have spoken too soon about a program to release inmates from prison early. Last year lawmakers voted to reintroduce an early release program for non-violent offenders. Originally, it was halted because of corruption, but it is back to help keep prisons from overcrowding.

"It's started right now. We're carrying it out right now. We gotta follow the blueprint that's been outlined in the law, and I think we will do very well if we go forward with that,"said Governor Quinn.

The Governor's statement doesn't seem to be true. According to the Department of Corrections, no inmates have been released yet and no word when the program will start.
