URBANA -- The demand is still high for guns and ammunition after recent, proposed gun laws. Now, many businesses are limiting the amount people can buy because stores are running out of supplies.

Sales at Dave's Firearms are up 70% and supplies are flying off the shelves. Owner Dave Costly says they usually have between 250 and 300 guns in stock, but right now they only have about 70. In order to serve everyone, he's limiting the amount of ammunition people can buy to two boxes of each kind, per person.

"The pipeline has dried up, so we can't supply our customers, and this has only happened one other time since I've been in the business 17 years, and that was in 2008 right after the election," Costly said.

In Danville, sales at Big R are also up about 50%. The limit there is two boxes of ammunition per person, per day.

Meanwhile, D & R Firearms in Urbana says sales have tripled. The store has a limit of four boxes per person. Store co-owner Dean Hazen joined The Morning Show to talk about the changes they've made as business owners and also his perspective on the high demand as a police officer and firearms instructor.
