URBANA -- Cortny Thompson was arrested last night for texting a disturbing picture to her ex-boyfriend. It was their 2-year old holding a gun. Her ex called police.

Thompson told deputies she sent it to her ex hoping he would feel sorry for her and take her and their daughter back. Deputies say she admitted putting the gun in front of the toddler who then picked it up. The 20-year old also told the sheriff's office she doesn't know anything about guns.

The semi-automatic pistol belonged to the man she was living with on Peach Tree Street. Deputies say they aren't sure if it was loaded but the magazine was in it.

Lieutenant Ed Ogle says he isn't sure when the photo was taken, but it was sent to the ex-boyfriend Tuesday. The child is staying with a relative, and DCFS has been notified.

Thompson was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and endangering a child. She was convicted of felony theft in 2009. and is not allowed to have weapons.

Her bond is $25,000. She'll be back in court in April.
