DANVILLE-- Illinois ranks near the bottom of the barrel when it comes to public outdoor areas, but the state is trying to fix that. The state purchased a total of 547 acres of land.

Four counties will split that. Of those four counties, Vermilion will get close to an acre of land.

Governor Quinn says it's his hope parks will encourage more people to get outdoors. He also said he wants the parks to boost the economy and bring more money into the state.
