Doctors-in-training face licensing delays

ILLINOIS -- Hundreds of medical students may not be able to start their residency programs this summer. It's because of delays in processing after workers in the state office issuing licenses to physicians and doctors-in-training were laid off.

Lawmakers and the medical community have been in a dispute about how to fund that office. The senate passed a bill to try to change that.

It would rehire workers who were laid off and prevent further delays. It now heads to a house committee. If passed, it could raise the price of physician licenses.
