Defense, leadership keying Illini surge

CHAMPAIGN - The Fighting Illini have gotten back on track the last couple weeks, and they've done it with their defense.  Illinois allowed 60+ points in 9 out of 11 games during their slide, but lately they've only given up 60+ once in the last four games.

Sunday's game in Evanston might have been Illinois' best defensive performance of the year.  They held Northwestern to just 25% FG shooting and never let the Wildcats' offense find it's rhythm.
