CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Billions of dollars worth of stimulus funds have helped Illinois the past four years. Many projects are still underway. They were created to help jump-start the economy.

Three groups received the most stimulus funding in Champaign County. Money to UI helped pay professors' salaries. The City of Champaign received the next biggest award and the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District was third. It treats and cleans waste water for thousands in the area. The district's executive director said the $10 million it received has already been spent, but the project is still helping people living here.
