Girls basketball team makes history

CHAMPAIGN -- St. Thomas More is breaking records and making history. The girls basketball team is going to state, for the first time. They won super sectionals Monday night.
They played against Litchfield High School winning 75 to 36, and couldn't stop smiling Tuesday. They say their win is the result of a lot of hard work, discipline and communication.
It's something seniors have been working for since their first day stepping onto the court as freshmen. They say a lot of the time girls basketball teams aren't taken seriously, but these girls knew they had the fans, support and drive to make history.
"It's pretty much the pinnacle of my career. It's something I've dreamed about, but never really thought it'd happen to me. I've usually been on the teams that lose in this situation. It's really nice to have this blessing," senior Elayna Kramer said.
"Just overwhelmed with emotions. It's awesome. This is what I've dreamed of, and just the team as a whole. It's pretty cool," junior Randa Harshbarger said.
The girls are now getting ready for their big day, with a lot of celebrating but also preparation.
