SAVOY -- A long flight home leads to the arrest of a UI professor. It happened Friday night at Willard Airport.

George Gross was coming home from New Zealand. While on a flight to Willard, University police say he got into a fight with a flight attendant.

Police say the flight attendant asked Gross to move his carry-on bag. It was on the floor of the plane but she wanted it put in the overhead compartment. Police say that's when the 66-year old got upset and got into the flight attendant's face. She felt threatened and let the captain know. He called security.

When the plane landed, police arrested Gross for disorderly conduct and assault. Police say this was an unusual incident. Since there are not many flights in and out of Willard, they say they're not called there too often. Gross' lawyer says he'd been traveling more than 40-hours.
