CHRISTIAN COUNTY -- The sheriff is warning people about a phishing scam. Many people are getting automated phone calls from an "unavailable" number.

The call is a recording stating the First National Bank of Pana is temporarily suspending their debit cards. Victims are asked to press #1 to speak to someone who then asks for account and pin numbers to reactivate the card.

Sheriff Bruce Kettlekamp says it's a complete scam and says you should hang up on any call like this immediately. Anyone with questions or concerns about their accounts, should contact their bank directly.
