CHAMPAIGN -- Saturday is Chinese New Year and people who aren't sure how to celebrate are getting a lesson from the library. More than 100 people visited for the Lunar New Year Celebration Event.

Families got to watch traditional Chinese performances. Children made ancient Chinese crafts like red lanterns and red envelopes. Organizers say the successful turnout means a lot to them.

"We have had a lot of great comments about the performances and the program today. So, we are glad that we were able to do it," Stephanie Edwards said.

Edwards says the event was a nice way to present Asian culture to the community. The library collaborated with the UI Asian American Cultural Center for the event.
