Obama back on home turf

CHICAGO -- President Obama is back in his home state, looking for support on ideas he laid out during this week's State of the Union address. The speech was all about guns.

Illinois has some of the worst gun violence in the country, so he's using the state as an example for stricter gun control laws. The President says too many people are dying because of them, both on the streets and in mass shootings like Sandy Hook.

He wants to ban assault-style weapons nationwide. That's something Governor Quinn is pushing for here on the state level as well. But, critics argue it's not guns, but better rules on who can use them.

The President and governor also talked privately on how to strengthen the economy. They're both calling for an increase in minimum wage. The President wants it to be $9 across the board. Quinn is pushing for $10.
