Lawmakers move to protect aquifer
Updated: February 15, 2013
Now, State Senator Chapin Rose (R) and State Representative Bill Mitchell (R) are working on a bill to protect that aquifer from PCB damage. The DeWitt County Board previously voted to allow the Clinton Landfill to dump PCB's on top of the aquifer.
Chapin and Mitchell say the landfill could contaminate the water supply. They want all county boards and municipalities sitting on the aquifer to have a vote and a voice against that decision. They plan on filing legislation in the house soon.
